DESCRIPTION:Este sábado 10 de Marzo haremos una pequeña recepción y muestra de arte para nuestra querida amiga y directora de arte Paige Nicholas\, en la tienda PURGA en Santiago (Chile) antes de su partida al Reino Unido. Acompáñanos en una tarde de buena música\, champañita en un medio para mirar y discutir sobre la relación entre subculturas\, ilustración y diseño de modas. \nObras disponibles para la venta. \n– 17:00 a 21:00 hrs\n– Entrada GRATIS\n– Tragos de cortesía\n– Live DJs \nAcerca de las ilustraciones 👩‍🎨 \nChicas del Roxy Club\, con sus abrigos de invierno y mohín de femme fatale en finos trazos de tinta coloreados con acrílico\, o un modelo fotografiado por Derek Ridgers\, con los labios de brillo magenta\, ojeras de cobalto fosforescente sobre su piel morena y una puntiaguda gargantilla punk. Chicos goths y hardcore – de los que\, para nuestra sorpresa\, aún pululan por Santiago – con el contraste subido al máximo\, en pinceladas gruesas y desbordantes de vitalidad: así son las ilustraciones de Paige. \nOriunda Plymouth\, una ciudad en las costas del suroeste del Reino Unido\, se formó como artista plástico en la Winchester School of Arts. Desde el principio se interesó por la estética de las distintas subculturas musicales y urbanas\, comenzando por las del Reino Unido (goths\, mods\, teddy boys\, rudies\, punks\, you name it) y luego abarcando a cada tribu o clic moderno que se le cruzara en sus viajes. \nEn sus ilustraciones podemos observar un interés por las poses\, gestos y la indumentaria: los elementos constitutivos del carisma y la estética particular de cada subcultura. \nEsta afinidad por la moda endógena y D.I.Y. hacen un perfect match con la actitud hacia el diseño de PURGA\, asentamiento del think-tank conformado por la trinidad de QueremosNuevo + ClubParticular + DarkMatter. Las creaciones de los diseñadores santiaguinos representan un verdadero lado B de la moda chilena\, optando por una iconoclasia que\, como es sabido\, nunca deja de ser chic. \nSábado 10 de Marzo\n17:00 a 21:00 hrs\nTienda PURGA\nAntonia Lopez de Bello 90\, Recoleta\, Santiago.\nhttps://www.facebook.com/TIENDAPURGA/ \nProducido por: WIDE \nENGLISH VERSION 🇬🇧 \nOn Saturday the 10th we’ll be making a reception/art show for our dear friend and art director Paige Nicholas at PURGA\, a real nifty fashion shop at the Barrio Bellavista of Santiago (Chile). We’ll have ourselves an afternoon of good music\, glasses of champagne in our hands in a place set to enjoy and discuss the relation between subcultures\, illustration and fashion design. \nRoxy Club girls wearing their winter coats and femme fatale glares in fine ink strokes\, or a male model\, photographed by Derek Ridgers\, his lips turned magenta with gloss\, fluorescent cobalt eyeliner over his dark skin\, a spiked choker on his neck. Then there’s teens in goth and punk outfits – those who\, much to our surprise\, still walk the streets of Santiago – with the contrast maxed out in thick brush strokes pulsing with vitality: this is how Paige’s works feel. \nBorn and raised in Plymouth\, a city on the UK’s southwestern shores\, she enrolled in the Winchester School of Art to help flourish her penchant for illustration. From the beginning she showed an interest in the diverse musical and urban subcultures and their aesthetics\, starting out with those from her country (mods\, teddy boys\, skinheads\, punks\, ravers you name it) and then expanding towards each tribe or modern clique she’d bump into on her travels. \nOn her illustration we can find a very fine eye for stance\, gestures and attire: the constituents of charisma and each subculture’s particular aesthetic. \nThis affinity for D.I.Y. fashion match perfectly with the attitude towards design shown by PURGA\, which is the base of operations of the think-tank formed by QueremosNuevo + Club Particular + Darkmatter. The creations of these santiaguinos represent a veritable B-Side of Chilean fashion\, opting for an iconoclasm that\, as we all known\, can’t be anything else but chic. \nProduced by WIDE \n
